Escort Live Radar App Reviews

Not great, but has some useful functions

I was not able to register or login to this app on my iphone 6s. I had to use someone else’s iPhone 5 to register an account for the software, only then was I able to login to this app on my iphone 6s. I have a smart cord live paired with an Escort s55 radar detector. This software allows me to lockout false alerts and control the functions of the s55, which is nice. The speed limit info has not been showing up for roads in NYC, that may be because the limits have recently changed. I only have a basic account, so I cant comment on the premium functions.

Priced themselves out of market

I started using the system as soon as it came out. Watched it grow from very few alerts to a lot. And they were usually accurate. About 2 years ago, alerts started tapering off. Now, its worthless. I drive a lot for work and to different places every time. Its a shame. I run my radar detector but lean mostly on Waze.

Useless

So I got a free one year subscription with my new Max 360. I dont even know where to start. I could be driving in a 30 mph zone and the radar would be showing speed limit as 40. Id be driving on freeways listening to red light camera alerts. Non of the "reported" by others alerts were correct. The app itself is very clumsy and at this point completely worthless; Waze offers much better warnings to go with your radar. I used it for a month and the only thing I can say - Escort, shame on you. No industry leader should have such app, charge prime dollar membership fees and keep its place atop the food chain. If you dont fix it, this app will bring you down

Mixed Signals

So I like having the app and I like having it warn me about possible radar threats ahead. The radar detector itself works very well. So a few things that I dont like about the app: I wish I could shut off some red lights not all but ones that I drive through every day. The app does not play nice with my iTunes on my iPhone if I hit pause and then hit play again it goes to the first song in my library instead of back to the song thats playing. The app also seems to stay running in the background for some reason when I get out of the car Im in the house and all of a sudden itll pop up with the warning itll say radar ahead. I also wish the display would auto dim after some amount of time the full bright display does not allow the phone to charge while its on.

Everyone is a sensor

Tell your buddies to get an escort radar detector. More sensors out there the better the ap. It would be nice if you could mark cities or counties where you see a laser threat. It would be something like the red light feature but to make sure you always know which areas you should slow down in due to the nature of the protector.

Disappointed

Escort Max used to do a good job, but with the increasing use of Laser I find it to be useless. Also use the Escort Live Radar app but just get the advance notice that I would have hoped for -- not enough users out there. I have found Waze not to be any better.

Needs more

Really need the ability to update the radar detector from the app. It is a PITA to drag a laptop out to the car every time I need to do an update. :-(

Cant even log in

Cant even get past the login screen. No offer to assist either. Poor implementation thus far.

Horrible

Almost

This app is "okay" but as others have said the speed limits are sometimes inaccurate. Also the Bluetooth doesnt always stay connected and you have to re start the app.

Privacy Location Settings...

I like the app and it has improved over the year, but one small change that would save me is changing it so that location services are only used while using. There is a setting in iOS development and many apps use this as well. If you go to settings -->privacy --> location services --> then go to Escort and change it from Always to "While Using". Right now it requires you to have it on either Always or Never. If you are not using the app and leave it on your battery will drastically drain and that is just silly. Four stars or higher if this change is made.

Took my money

Paid for the month subscription and a hour later it told me my subscription was expired and must pay for another subscription.

Update...after 8000mi trip

After almost 8000 miles of the SmartCord Live & Escort Live App asking me to Subscribe to the Live Service every five minutes, the Escort Live App has become such an annoyance that it has been deleted from my iPhone. The Premium Service is not worth $5/yr, much less $50. With the annoyance of the popup blocking the Escort Live App display every five minutes Escort should be paying their Radar Detector customers for the aggravation. Remove this Live crap from the App or partner with Waze and the App could do its job - as a remote interface to the detector. Ill be returning my radar detector because of this poorly thought out App.

Needs work

First of all, how come only two options for location? Need "while using the app", not never or always?! Always is a drain on battery and really dont need Red Light camera alert when walking downtown! Keeps freezing or black screen when used with Waze. Both would be better if they learned to play together. Max 360 is a great detector, need to turn off "over speed" VO alert! The app also echoes every time the Max 360 says "over speed!" They should realize one is enough. App needs some work, hire a couple of Wazes developers.

Just ok, could be better

Have been using for a few months. The app works ok. Kind of confusing on what buttons mark and do what. Doesnt have a night mode. I always run it in the background while using Waze for my GPS. Does warn of live radar and laser. Has saved my a few times from live radar. Would like to see a better interface and a way to plan trips.

Extremely disappointing

App has a horrible interface and is full of bugs. Almost never plays audio warning via phone unless app is running in foreground. Drains battery like crazy. Hideous UX. Almost never receive any "live" warnings because very few people use the awful app. I was mislead when purchased detector, thought it had GPS when really its just through phone Bluetooth which is extremely annoying to lock out superfluous signals. Lastly, forcing a $50 annual subscription fee after paying hundreds for a detector is asinine. Very disappointed with escort, I should have just kept my old detector and saved $400.

Good app, lacking users everywhere but NYC

The app has some pretty great functionality with the actual radar detector itself & is actually very convenient but there arent many (if any) people in my area who use it so for that reason I can only give 4 out of 5 stars since I basically cannot use the main function/purpose of this app.

Escort 360 review

Great app. But why does the speed trap warning never expire after a certain time.

Works Perfect- IPhone

Works perfect , only problem not enough people use it. You can use this with or without a radar detector and smart cord, the only option that should be add is when the users post an alert you have no Idea whats going on, is it radar, Laser, accident or patrol. Escort-8500 and Redline user

Waste

Cant believe I got sucked into this garbage!
