Does not connect to smart radar detector

Just bought a new smart radar detector & was looking forward to using this app. The app will not even recognize my radar detector.

Latest release screwed up maps

Your last release destroyed the speed limit maps that were largely correct in Northeast Ohio. Please fix. Infinitesimal correct speed limits exist. Where they dont, no speed limit is posted.

Lost a loyal customer!

Wow! I just bought a $650 Escort Max II and was excited to set it up while sitting at a soccer game and was floored when I read the reviews of this app and to learn how Escort got away from its core competencies by charging fees to use with a very expensive product. Detector will be returned tomorrow when the doors of the store open! Escort stick to what you do well. Fire the idiot who came up with this brilliant scheme. This may be the best detector you have ever manufactured but I will never know because I returned it on my core principles. You have lost a 25 year loyal customer because you wanted to get into the fee for service business. Do yourself a big favor and go partner with Waze and get away from this paid fee for service shenanigans. Genius of you to lose a $650 sale and and a loyal customer over $5 per month. Here is come Cobra... You did it right by not trying to screw the customer.

Really

I spent $650 on a max 360 and the app wont connect to my iPhone 6s?

Crap Radar, live feature and App

I just retired from the military and bought a new Z for my daily driver. I purchased the Escort Max 360, Escort Live direct wire and dowloaded this app, thinking the would be a great system for my one hour commute to work. Dont waste your money. Ill be returning everything to purchase a Valentine radar. They have great reviews. This app does not ever connect via Bluetooth to my radar or escort live device. I emailed Escort earlier in the week about it and they said call. I told them that I would once I finish with the entire install of the direct wire Escort Live device. I have been working on this for five hours and when I called Escort tech support, they only work during the weekdays normal working hours....so much for support. What happens on the weekend and evenings when someone is having an issue? So much for support, total crap support. You pay for a service the Defender database and live service but never get support! Ill be filing with the FTC and BBB today after I complete this review. Ive had Escort and Beltronics radars for years in each of my other cars, I still own them. They seem to work well but this Max 360 and the Escort Live....total junk. Im so disappointed in this company. I was going to purchase their laser defense systems, not now! DO NOT BUY THIS RADAR OR LIVE SERVICE, it doesnt work. The app consistently crashes as well.

Great potential, abysmal and overpriced execution

I have to restart the app every time I get in the car. My max 2 refuses to connect to my phone unless I do so, which is pretty annoying. It also wont mute automatically when Im on the phone even when it is connected, which in my mind is a "duh" feature to have. Dont expect escort to fix these issues anytime soon, as they have known about them for years. Its a doubly stupid business model considering that the love features only work if enough people are using them. Overpriced subscriptions combined with glitchy and poorly designed functionality mean not many people are using the app to mark hot spots. Escort really needs to rethink this whole thing, especially considering that there are free alternatives that work better.

Seasoned User Review

I have been using the app with a detector (Passport 9500ix) for about two years daily now. I will admit that there have been some minor bugs here and there with the app, but it does work well, and provides very accurate and helpful traffic and traffic patrol data, which is especially helpful when you are in an unfamiliar city (speed cameras, cops, lidar, etc.). The "bugs" are minor, sporadic, and annoying, but dont let reports of these scare you away from this wonderful advent of technology, which liberates you to drive under the laws of common sense and courtesy instead of local governments out for your money. Every "bug" I have experienced has a small workaround trick that you can do to avoid it or fix it, and if you have trouble figuring out how to do the workaround the Escort companys customer service is top-notch and can walk you through what to do. For example, if you have trouble logging in or starting up the app, just close the app and try again, and it then it works with no problem. For example, if the blue locator dot showing your location on the map disappears, then double tap the locator-target control and fixed. The biggest and most annoying bug to me has been with my detector data not being contributed for sharing with all of the other users, and likewise I assume Im not getting other users data due to this same bug. You can see if you are currently suffering from this bug by pressing the Bluetooth connection button, if it says "Radar Detector" and not "Passport 9500ix" (in my case), then the app will not transmit your detector data as it does not recognize the device. This seems to sporadically fail for no reason, but I have also found a workaround to avoid this. This is what you do: MAKE SURE BLUETOOTH on your phone is turned OFF. Then start up the detector, SmartCord, and also the Escort Live app on your phone. After everything is up and running and you are logged into the app, then turn ON your phones Bluetooth. Once Bluetooth is on, then press the Report button on your SmartCord, this will connect the phone via Bluetooth to the detector and recognize the detector properly so that your valuable data is contributed and shared with the rest of us. Enjoy your freedom on the streets!

App not that good

Hello Escort..... You should allow the option to choose MPH or KPH... Mine stuck in KPH because I prefer to have my phone in other region while in USA. I called tech support. They could care less, thats not our department. Additionally, the speed limits I have found wrong on MAJOR large city freeway. Where do they get the data they use. Lots of improvements needed.
